Edinburgh Unicorn

The unicorn a symbol of purity and power has been associated with the crown of Scotland since at least William I who placed it on the royal coat of arms in the 12th century. The Scottish unicorn is depicted with chains in symbolic reference to the legend that only a king had the strength to tame such a beast.
